YOUNSTERS will embark on a container ship voyage to Lithuania on Wednesday (22 July).
Students aged 16-17 from Hartlepool College and Manor College in Hartlepool set sail from Teesport on nine-day voyages to Klaipeda in Lithuania, as part of a summer scheme by charitable foundation High Tide.
Middlesbrough-based High Tide works with young people on Teesside to raise aspirations, using the industry in the area to encourage them, through various schemes and programmes.
This year, they have managed to secure two containership voyages, the first on Wednesday, and the second the following Wednesday, July 29. Both will visit Helsinki and Rotterdam en route.
On board, students will join the crew and will gain knowledge and insight into what is required to run a containership from maintenance to navigation.
