SOME of Hartlepool’s best and newest bands will share a stage next month for a charity gig to raise funds for The Alzheimer’s Society.

The Summer Big One will take place at The Studio on Saturday, August 1, showcasing more than a dozen acts throughout the evening.

The event is being held following the great success of the inaugural Big One in 2013 when more than £2100 was raised for Hartlepool and District Hospice.

Bands performing at this summer’s Big One include hotly tipped town band Para Alta, singer songwriter Lee Maddison and hardy perennials The White Negroes.

Organiser Steven Hart, who is vice chairman of The Studio, said: “The venue has a community ethos very much at its heart and we all knew we wanted to organise a summer event to raise funds for charity.

“It’s the summer holidays, it’s festival season, so we are staging an amazing line-up of Hartlepool and Teesside talent to keep people entertained throughout the day. From some of the best up and coming talent in town, to familiar favourites, there will be something for everyone.”

Doors open at 1pm, with the bands performing till late. Entrance is £5 with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Trust.

Confirmed acts include Para Alta; Lost State of Dance; Antlez; Dampdog and The Jibes; Tanx; Pek & Wanley; Lee Maddison; Ian Harrison; Jason Harrison; First Process Church of Mars; and The White Negroes.
