THE A19 Southbound has re-opened after a car hit the central reservation, forcing emergency services to close the road.
Firefighters cut off the roof of the vehicle to order to free the trapped occupant before they were taken to hospital for treatment.
The extent of their injuries are not known.
The accident happened at about 7.36pm on the road between the Wolviston and Norton turn-offs and caused long delays for motorists in the area.
Firefighters from Billingham and Stockton along with Cleveland Police’s Special Operations Unit attended the scene.
The road re-opened shortly after 9.30pm.
