A FREE walking event will be held along the Durham and Hartlepool a stretch of England’s new national coastal.

Hartlepool Borough Council and Durham County Council are organising the event on along the Durham Heritage Coast through the region on Sunday May 10.

Walk4Life through Coast and Country will see walkers from Hartlepool setting off from the Headland Promenade and Durham’s walkers starting from Blackhall Rocks, before both groups meet up at Crimdon for a joint walk around the Dene.

Public health director for County Durham Anna Lynch said: “We really hope the people taking part in the event will enjoy themselves and decide to walk on a more regular basis.”

Northumbrian Water is supporting the event by donating bottles of water and fruit will also be available thanks to Asda.

Walkers from Hartlepool meet at Verril’s car park at 9.30am for a 10am start and Durham walkers meet at Blackhall Rocks picnic area at the same time.
