A ROYAL Navy veteran is trying to trace a former shipmate who hails from the North-East.
Doug Munro, from Scotland, served with Kevin Wright, on HMS Fearless between 1976 and 1979.
Mr Munro said: "Kev was originally from Hartlepool and his parents' address back then was in Patterdale Road, Hartlepool.
"I remember visiting his home town and his parents when the ship went into Sunderland on a goodwill visit.
"Kevin was a Radio Operator in our Comms mess and I would guess that his age would be about 55 or 56 now.
"I had heard through an ex-forces college of mine that Kevin had joined the local fire service when he left the Navy.
"So far I have written to Cleveland, County Durham and Darlington and Tyne and Wear fire services and have had no luck, as no one remembers that name.
"remember he had a brothers and sisters and was hoping that someone from his family would pick up on the article and actually know where he is.
"I am busy trying to trace other ex-Navy shipmates from the Fearless and we have a Facebook page under HMS FEARLESS COMMS 1976 to 1978, where other guys have actually joined."
