WOMEN are being urged to get fit and have fun by signing up for a series of ladies-only begin to run sessions.

Ten weekly sessions are to be held as part of the Feel Good in Hartlepool project, which aims to get more local people active.

The full programme, starting on April 22, costs £10 and by week ten participants should be able to run comfortably for 30 minutes at their own pace.

The Feel Good in Hartlepool project is receiving £192,727 of National Lottery funding via Sport England over three years with a target of increasing participation in triathlon (swimming, cycling and running), sailing, multi-sports and dance.

Triathlon activator Kay Stokes, who is organising the ladies-only sessions, said: “We aim to help women progress from a walk to a run over the course of the ten weeks, so no previous experience of running is necessary.

“The sessions are intended to be fun and informal and they are a great way of getting fit and making new friends.”

Four new Sports Activators have been recruited by Hartlepool Council’s sport and recreation service, which is leading the project.

The weekly sessions which will be delivered by a qualified run leader, and will commence from outside the cafe at Ward Jackson Park at 6pm.
