CLUBS and groups are being urged to find out how they can support an innovative sports project by attending a special event later this month.

They are being asked to send representatives to the launch of the Feel Good in Hartlepool project at Tees and Hartlepool Yacht Club in Hartlepool Marina on Thursday February 26 from 5-8pm.

The project, which is being led by Hartlepool Council’s sport and recreation service, aims to get more local people active by promoting participation in triathlon (swimming, cycling and running), sailing, multi-sports and dance.

Rachael Graham, from the council’s sport and physical activity team said: “As part of the project, we are forging close links with the governing bodies of the targeted sports as well as a range of local organisations and clubs.

“We hope potential partners will come along to the event and make suggestions as to how they might get involved and add value to the project."

The project is receiving £192,727 of National Lottery funding via Sport England over three years and other financial support – including Public Health funding of £60,000 from Hartlepool Council – and in-kind backing from partner organisations brings the total value of the project to more than £330,000.

Clubs or groups wishing to send representatives should contact Daniel Garthwaite or Rachael Graham at daniel.garthwaite@hartlepool.gov.uk or rachael.graham@hartlepool.gov.uk or by calling 01429-284047.
