North-East charity Miles for Men hosts men-only fun-runs around the country to raise funds for cancer charities across the UK.

Since its first event in Hartlepool it has raised £125,000 over 15 months and now races also regularly take part in Newcastle, Sunderland, Gateshead and Liverpool.

The charity was founded by Michael Day after his father, also Michael, died from throat cancer at the age of 67 in 2007.

“It’s a privilege to have so many darting stars on stage for our second darts extravaganza and to have a team from Denmark flying in to support the charity is unbelievable,” Mr Day said.

“We would like to thank all the players who are giving their time free. They will be playing for the Dan Sullivan Memorial Trophy, Dan lost his fight against cancer at the age of seven and this event is a tribute to him.”

Tickets costing £15 each which includes a bottle of wine per table of four are available from The Art Gallery in Church Square, Hartlepool or by calling Kevin Hill on 07904-976-666.
