POLICE have launched an investigation after a man died in the street.

Officers were alerted by a member of the public who had seen a man in difficulties outside a house on Newlands road, Middlesbrough, just before noon today.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and Cleveland Police are carrying out door-to-door inquiries as they look for witnesses.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “At around 11.50am today, police were called by a member of the public with concerns for a man outside an address in Newlands Road in Middlesbrough.

“Sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene and enquiries into the circumstances surrounding his death have commenced.

“A number of officers are in the area and anyone with information can speak to any officer or contact Cleveland Police on the non emergency number 101.”
