MAN ARRESTED: Cleveland Police make arrest as man fights for life following violent assault in Hartlepool
A MAN has been arrested in connection with a serious assault that has left the victim in a critical condition in hospital.
Detectives opened a special hotline as they search for witnesses to a violent attack which after the 32-year-old man received serious head injuries.
The victim was attacked in Victoria Road, close to its junction with York Road, in Hartlepool.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "Detectives investigating a serious assault in Hartlepool in the early hours of Sunday (October 5) last night arrested a 28-year-old man from the Hartlepool area on suspicion of assault. He remains in police custody."
