TWO police officers needed hospital treatment after being in a collision with car they were trying to stop in the early hours of this morning (Friday, July 18).

The officers, who were on mobile patrol, attempted to pull over a green Nissan Almera which was travelling without lights at about 3am on Owton Manor Lane, Hartlepool.

The Nissan Almera collided with the police car, and was later found abandoned on Gulliver Road at about 3.35am.

Two male police officers were treated at the University Hospital of North Tees for minor injuries.
