YOUNG sports fanatics interested in soccer scholarships overseas can find out about career opportunities in the USA while gaining some professional football coaching tomorrow (Saturday, April 12).

Redcar and Cleveland College, in partnership with Sports Recruiting USA, will be hosting the free event at the campus on Corporation Road, Redcar, from noon to 5pm.

Andy McLaughlin, director of recruitment, marketing and business development at the college, said it was a great opportunity to learn about the skills, attributes and qualifications required to gain a football scholarship in America.

“We are inviting young players from across the North East to come along and show off their footballing skills and learn more about what it takes to gain a football scholarship in the United States,” he said.

“It’s also an opportunity to meet our first class coaching staff who work at the college’s Football Development Centre (FDC), which offers players the chance to take their first step towards enhancing their football skills.

“The FDC is staffed by UEFA A licensed coaches, who are all ex-professional players with over 2,000 first team appearances between them and experience of playing for Middlesbrough, Coventry City, Bristol Rovers, Hartlepool and Northern Ireland.”

Anyone interested in attending can come along to the event between noon and 5pm on Saturday, for coaching and advice.
