PEOPLE are being urged to get their nominations in quickly in the search to find Hartlepool’s sporting heroes.

Hartlepool Sports Council is seeking the nominations for its 2013 Sports Awards.

The winners will be announced on May 20 and the deadline for entries is 12pm on Friday, April 25.

There are seven award categories up for grabs: Hartlepool sports personality (16+); services to sport; coach of the year; outstanding team performance; outstanding club performance; rising stars (under 11); and rising stars (under 16).

ALLOTMENT VACANCIES: PLOTS are up for grabs for would-be gardeners at a popular Middlesbrough allotment site. The two vacant plots are at the Town Farm Community Allotment on Cargo Fleet Lane. NEW RECTOR: St Nicholas Parish in Guisborough has a new Rector. Reverend Alison Phillipson, who is at present Vicar of the Parish of Coatham and Dormanstown, has been appointed Rector by the Archbishop of York. The date of her induction service has yet to be arranged.

HINDU EXHIBITION: Members of the Hindu communities in Middlesbrough and Durham have worked with the Dorman Museum curators to create a new exhibition about their faith. The exhibition, ‘Embracing the Divine: exploring Hindu Faith, Devotion, and Celebration’, is at the Dorman Museum, Middlesbrough until Friday, July 4. The museum is open from 9.30am to 4.30pm Tuesday to Sunday. Entry to the museum and the temporary exhibition is free for all ages.
