A HOMELESS woman is facing jail for a burglary during which she stole a mobility scooter.
Jessica Magee will be sentenced at Teesside Crown Court next month for the February break-in at a house in Hartlepool.
The 21-year-old also took a bottle of aftershave and money.
Magee, formerly of Glamis Walk, Hartlepool, was arrested on a warrant after she failed to turn up at court for a plea hearing, and appeared before a judge the yesterday.
Her barrister, Kieran Rainey, said she was "in something of a crisis" after being evicted a fortnight ago.
"She has been on the streets ever since, not sleeping because of the light nights, and just walking around," he said.
Judge Sean Morris remanded Magee in custody until her next appearance on June 8, and said: "I'm not going to grant her bail. I'm not going to have her walking the streets."
He adjourned the case for a background report from the Probation Service, and told Magee, who admitted burglary: "I want to know a bit more about you, but you are looking at a custodial sentence."
