GREEN fingered care home residents have been out in the garden.
Taking advantage of the good weather, residents at The Beeches Care Home, on Green Lane, in Stockton, have been getting into the garden to plant flowers and vegetables.
Pansies will fill the garden with colour and tomatoes will be harvested in the summer for salads.
Bosses say the activities have been proving therapeutic for residents – helping to increase social interaction and improve well-being.
Resident Gwen Baker, who is one of those who has been taking part, said: “It’s lovely to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. I’m looking forward to seeing all of the plants grow.”
Helen Wood, home manager at The Beeches Care Home, said: “Gardening is a great activity for everyone to take part in, including our residents.
“They have really taken to the activities now Spring finally feels like it has arrived."
