A DRIVER had to be cut free from a four-car crash on Thursday.

The motorist was freed from his Renault Kadjar and taken to hospital suffering from leg and pelvic injuries following the collision on the outskirts of Middlesbrough.

Police, three ambulance crews and firefighters from Middlesbrough and Coulby Newham attended the scene of the accident on Dixons Bank, near Nunthorpe, at around lunchtime on Thursday afternoon.

The busy road was closed to traffic in both directions as a result of the incident.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said that the crash involved the Renault Kadjar as well as two blue Nissan Jukes and a silver Mazda CX3.
