BUSINESS leaders have met in Hartlepool to discuss idea to help build a “thriving North-East’.

The event, held at Hartlepool College, saw representatives from 18 local businesses from across the Tees Valley, including NEPIC, Prosafe Engineering, JDR Cables, Communicate Technology PLC, J&B Recycling and UK Steel.

Changing Futures North-East, a family support and mediation charity, assembled businesses from across the region to debate the social, educational and business challenges they face.

Jayne Moules, strategic development manager at Changing Futures North East, said: “Businesses within the Tees Valley have a perfect opportunity to create and expose opportunities in a range of different industries and environments.

Shaun Hope, head of student recruitment at the college added: “It’s vital that businesses within the region realise that they are role models and that their work within the Tees Valley communities will have such a massive impact on the ambition and confidence of the next generation.”
