WITH his quirky take on a Justin Bieber hit, an 11-year-old boy is hoping to propel a North-East town towards the pop charts.

Lemon tops, seagulls, fish n chips and Redcar’s vertical pier make an appearance in Pacitto Pacitto, a popular YouTube video that has been viewed thousands of times.

Westgarth Primary School pupil Jack Crossley has rewritten the summer’s biggest song, Despacito – a Justin Bieber, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee collaboration currently riding high in the charts internationally.

The creative youngster has named his version in honour of Pacitto's, the enduringly popular ice-cream parlour that has served beachgoers for decades with its signature dish, the lemon top.

Jack penned verses about his favourite sights in his hometown before persuading his mother Nichola Crossley to lend her voice to his project.

The mother and son then visited Redcar seafront, where Jack got his seaside shots for the video, which has now amassed thousands of views online.

Thrilled at the positive response, Jack is now working on rewriting other pop hits and hopes his take on Despacito will make it to the top ten.

He said: “I was listening to Despacito then I asked my mam if we could do it about Redcar because I’m from around there and I like it.

“I’m very happy with how well it has done online, I’ve had lots of people saying it’s a very good video and it’s the first time I’ve done one like this.”

Mrs Crossley said her son had taken just over an hour to put together the pop song and is now working on reworking other hits after being thrilled with the positive reaction Pacitto Pacitto has garnered.

She said: “I think the video’s quite good considering it only took us an hour – if we’d known how popular it would turn out, we might have spent more time on it.”

The lyrics to the song include the lines: “This is how we do it on Redcar seafront.

“Lemon tops, candy floss and a stick of rock – there’s Pacittos.

“We’ve got the vertical pier and the beautiful sandy beaches and not forgetting Chips R Us.

“And there’s a seagull, that’s Redcar seafront.”

A spokesman for Pacitto's said: “I haven’t heard the song yet but good luck to the lad, I hope it makes number one.”
