WITNESSES are being sought after an accident which saw three schoolgirls injured when they were hit by the same car.

An 11-year-old girl remains in a stable condition with serious head injuries following the incident last week in Hartlepool, after which she was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.

A 12-year-old girl was taken to North Tees University Hospital in Stockton with a suspected broken leg and a second 12-year-old girl received minor injuries in the collision, on Skelton Street, Hartlepool, last Monday, May 15 at 3.45pm.

A 46-year-old man was arrested in connection with the collision and has been released with no bail conditions, pending further enquiries.

Any witnesses who may have seen the collision are asked to contact PC Andrew Lawson from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 084689.
