A MAN has been jailed for eight years for stalking his ex-girlfriend and sending hoax bomb threats to two airports which purported to be from her.

Russel Luke Zoryk set up a Twitter account using the woman’s name to send a message to Durham Tees Valley and Newcastle International Airports which stated: “Thought #parisattacks were bad, wait for my luggage gifts. Death to the infidels. #allahackbar #ISIS”.

He denied communicating false information in a tweet on November 19, 2015 and two counts of stalking the complainant and another woman between May 2014 and November 2015 by sending social media posts and causing messages to be sent that purported to originate from them.

The 25-year-old also denied sending a noxious substance by post to a home in Middlesbrough in June 2014 and three counts of intimidation, in relation to threatening e-mails he sent two female detectives investigating the complaints against him.

Zoryk, of Muirfield Drive, Derby, was found guilty of all charges after a trial at Teesside Crown Court.

The Recorder of Middlesbrough, Judge Simon Bourne-Arton jailed him for eight years.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Chris Pringle said: “This is an extreme case of stalking and harassment investigated in partnership with specialist agencies.

"Russel Zoryk made the lives of an innocent family a misery and went on to send tweets of an extremely serious and worrying nature to Durham Tees Valley and Newcastle International airports.

"I am pleased with the outcome at court today and would hope that it provides some comfort to the victims in this case.”
