ALMOST ten per cent of Yarm School’s A-level students have secured places on courses at Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

Nine students from a year group of 99 has been offered the chance to study at two of the country’s most recognised universities.

Students Christopher Baczkowski, Martin Croft, Alexander Heavers and Jamie Buck have all been offered places at colleges of the University of Cambridge, while George Atherton, Alexander Bridges, Jennifer Dunn, Jack Waller and Olivia Weatherhead have been accepted to study at University of Oxford. Their subjects are very diverse from Maths to German, Chemistry to History. One student Christopher Baczkowski was offered a prestigious organ scholarship after a gruelling three day interview and audition.

David Dunn, headmaster at Yarm School, said: “I am delighted for all of the students. They have all worked extremely hard and conscientiously in their studies, well beyond the A level requirements, and the offers they have earned at Oxford and Cambridge are fully deserved.

“This is a high number of students and reflects our success last year at A- Level with 22.5 per cent of all exam entries receiving the A* grade, which placed the school best in the area.

“I would like to wish all nine of the students all the best with their studies and careers. We are delighted for them.”
