MORE than 1,400 music fans watched dozens of bands in the fifth annual Stockton Calling event over the Easter weekend. More than 70 music acts from across the country performed throughout Saturday, April 19.

HORSE RIDERS: Horse riders across Redcar and east Cleveland are being urged to support their local bridleways group to help campaign for better off road riding in their area. Riders are asked to attend the Saltburn and District Bridleways Group Annual General Meeting at New Marske Sports Club on Wednesday, May 7 at 7.30pm. The meeting will be followed by a fun quiz (various categories, £1 per team member) with a £50 cash prize for the winning team (maximum of 4 people per team). FAMILY STALL: A new business made up of a mother and daughter from Stockton are joining forces with the town’s monthly farmers’ market. Poppyrose, a handmade gift retailers made up of daughter Louise Mcgrogan-Wright, 43, and mother Ann Mcgrogan, 65 will be the first of a number of guest stalls at the market. The farmers’ market will be held in Wellington Square, Stockton on Saturday, April 26 from 9am until 2pm. FOOTSORE BOBBIES: A team of police officers beat their previous walking record to raise money for Cancer Research as part of the Miles for Men campaign. It is the second year PC Neil Harrison on Middlesbrough police has a team of colleagues on the fundraising walk. Last year they took 16 hours and 30 minutes to walk 42 miles, setting off from Osmotherley, North Yorkshire, and earlier this month walked the same distance in 15 miles. The team walked in memory of Paul Royal, the brother of former Cleveland Police employee Tony Royal, and PC Harrison’s uncle, Keith Lamb, who both died of the disease.
