Praise for Sure Start
FAMILIES in the Bishop Auckland area have given top marks to three children's centres.
Services, activities and staff were all rated highly in a recent survey measuring parents' satisfaction with services at the Sure Start Wear Valley children's centres at St Helen Auckland, Woodhouse Close and Taylor Road
People who responded praised the centres' welcoming environments, friendly staff, convenient and helpful drop-in sessions and stimulating play activities.
Parents were also asked to suggest ways the centres could be developed and improved.
Everyone who took part in the survey had the chance to win £50 worth of Asda vouchers in a free prize draw.
Lindsey Ellwood, a Sure Start community development worker, said: "The comments were very encouraging. It is nice to think we are making such a positive impact within our community.
"The information we received will be used to monitor our services and will highlight areas which may need improvement."
Sure Start children's centres give families with children under five the chance to get information and help from a range of services, including midwives, health visitors, Jobcentre Plus, training, childminders and family support workers.
