Hope '08 event in Willington
AN event to encourage kindness in a Wear Valley community will see churches and community groups team up on Saturday.
Catholic, Anglican and Methodist churches in Willington, with the Community Resource Centre and Willington Town Council, are putting on the Hope '08 Community Day at the Lydia Street Chapel and Hall.
Line dancing and songs from the Durham Constabulary Choir will be included in the festivities, as well as performances from drama groups and musicians.
Art and written work from pupils in Willington schools is to be displayed in the chapel.
All activities will be based around the theme being kind'.
The event will be opened by Jim Smith, of Willington Town Council, and will be his last public engagement as chairman.
Entry is free, though children's games will cost 5p.
The event starts at 10.30am and will run through to the evening, Durham Constabulary Choir will perform at 7pm.
Any funds raised on the day will go to charities nominated by residents.
