Music festival returns for a second year

5:09pm Friday 3rd September 2010

A TEESSIDE music festival returns for a second year with an international line-up.

The Norton Music Festival, which will run from September 16 to 23, will include classical chart number one Craig Ogden.

Australian-born guitarist Craig Ogden, who will close the festival, will be performing music by a number of composers, including Isaac Albeniz, John Dowland and Astor Piazzolla.

The festival will be opened by the renowned Brodsky Quartet at St Joseph's RC Church, in Norton, on September 16, which will coincide with the church's 75th anniversary.

Event organiser Dawn Seymour said: "We are delighted to be holding the festival for the second consecutive year, we knew it was always going to be difficult to match last year's performances but we feel our line-up of international and local acts will be a huge hit.

"As well as entertaining residents from Norton and surrounding areas we are hoping to inspire local people to actively participate in music and perhaps perform at future festivals.

"It is a great honour to have world-class artists lined up to play and also support local artists to showcase their talents."

There will be raffles and collections in aid of Butterwick Hospice.

Tickets, priced £8 to £10, are available by calling 01642-355383 or emailing nortonmusicfestival@btconnect.com For more information redribbonevents.co.uk
