THE Christmas lights switch on in Stockton was kick started with a musical bang tonight.
Chico of X Factor fame, local singer Scott James, who also went to X Factor's Boot Camp, joined the Mayor of Stockton, and Middlesbrough FC footballers Danny Coyne and Tony McMahon, to do the honours.
Councillor Bob Cook, Stockton Council's cabinet member for regeneration and transport, said: "Once again, Stockton will be in the festive spirit with a glorious array of lights in the town centre."
The afternoon kicked off at 4pm with Real Radio presenters Beck and Kelly.
Dancing from Heritage Dance School took place at 4.30pm and music from Big Sigh and the Yawns at 5pm. This was followed by singing from St Cuthbert's school choir at 5.30pm and Scott James taking to the stage at 5.55pm.
