A TALENTED trio of gymnasts are a step closer to realising their dreams of representing their country in competition.
Amy Tinkler, Claudia Barkes and Jade Armstrong have been selected for the Great Britain development squad for nine to 11-year-olds.
Selection for the squad means that the three girls will travel and train with national gymnast coaches at Lilleshall and Loughborough national sports centres.
Amy, ten, of Bishop Auckland, Claudia, nine, of Barnard Castle, and Jade, 11, of Spennymoor, are all members of Spennymoor Gymnastics Centre.
Coach Rachel Wright said: "It is amazing we have three members in the GB squad, they are all huge talents and we have realistic hopes of them advancing to represent the country.
"The ultimate dream is to compete in the 2016 Olympic Games.
"We’re all so proud of them at the club."
