A YOUTH and community drop-in centre that has been backed by Children in Need is thanking and repaying the charity.
The Ladder centre, on the Lakes estate, Ferryhill, is organising a series of fund raising activities as a way of supporting the charity that helps funds its staff.
Young members have held two sponsored litter picks in the town and plan a further one this weekend.
Children's co-ordinators Deborah Smith and Emma Gowling, whose wages are paid by Children in Need, thanked local businesses and volunteers for supporting the campaign.
She hopes the youngsters' positive work will show residents they deserve praise.
The centre will host a Children in Need party for youngsters on Thursday November 19, 4pm to 5.30pm.
And its staff and volunteers will help to run: *A coffee morning at The Postboy, on Thursday November 12, 10am to noon; *A pyjama party at The Greyhound, on Friday November 20, from 7pm; *A social night with entertainment by Gridlock at Ferryhill Catholic Club, Dean Road, on Saturday November 21, 7.30pm, admission £2.
