GRANT AID: Evenwood Parish Council has agreed to make a donation of £50 to the Great North Air Ambulance Service. Members also agreed to give £30 to the Butterwick Hospice and £25 to the Royal British legion Poppy Appeal.

CHARITY BOOST: A coach trip from Barnard Castle to the 19th Classic Motorcycle Show and Giant Auto Jumble at Stafford County Showground lasy month raised £162 for Cancer Research.

CHURCH CELEBRATES: Windmill Methodist Chapel will mark 143 years of worship at 2.30pm on Sunday, November 18. Preacher will be Gerald Bell and the tanfield Lea Gospel Choir will perform. This will be followed by Sunday tea.

BAG PACK: The County Durham U19 girls cricket squad will be holding a bag pack at the Tesco store in St Helen Auckland, on Saturday, November 17. Money raised will help fund a trip to Dubai in the new year. Among the squad is 19-year-old Bethany Webb, from Evenwood, who plays for Lands CC.

BLOOMING GREAT: A £1,400 project to restore Whorlton village garden to its former glory has begun. Some 100 trees and shrubs will be planted as part of the scheme, which is being organised by the Heart of Teesdale Landscape Partnership.
