GROUP singing sessions led by a professional opera singer will start again next week.

The Sing for Life workshops will start on Tuesday, September 16 at three locations in the area.

Emily Smith will take the sessions, which will run every Tuesday at Spennymoor Leisure Centre from 11am until 1pm and at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre from 1.30pm until 3.30pm.

The singing workshops were so popular last time they were held that a new venue has now been added.

An evening session will take place at Ferryhill Leisure Centre from 6pm until 8pm.

A range of singing genres is covered in the two-hour classes.

Show songs, opera, folk, rock and requests from group members are all sung.

Graham Robinson, from Sedgefield Borough Council said: "Those involved benefit from improved posture and breathing and stress reduction, with the main benefit being confidence building and an enormous sense of well-being that comes from singing."

The sessions cost £2, as part of Sedgefield Borough Council’s Fit for Life, GP referral scheme. For more information or to book contact Emily Crallan on 01388-816166 ext. 4378.
