A SCHOOL raised hundreds of pounds to help soldiers and their families by selling charity wristbands.
The Northern Echo supports the 3 Rifles Swift and Bold campaign to raise money for the welfare of the battalion’s injured soldiers and families of those killed in action.
It has been selling green wristbands in aid of the appeal and Sedgefield Community College obtained 200 for pupils and staff to sell.
Every one was sold them within three days, raising more than £400.
Major Chris Lawton, of 3 Rifles, visited the school to talk to students about the recent tour of Afghanistan and received a cheque for £420.29 from teacher John Davison.
Students got an insight into what life is like in the country at the moment and life in the army in general, which was especially poignant as several ex-students have served there.
