THE fire and rescue service in North Yorkshire is trying to recruit more part-time firefighters in the Masham area.
A special awareness event is being held at the fire station in Masham on March 17 2010 from 4pm to 9pm.
Organiser Ian Perkins said: "Our fire service serves the communities of the largest county in England with much of it relying on part time, or ‘on-call’ firefighters to respond to incidents when needed.
"These dedicated people have regular day time jobs and carry a bleeper that alerts them when they need to get to the fire station to answer an emergency call.
"The job is varied and exciting and I hope that we can attract all members of the community. Women and members of other under-represented groups will be especially welcome."
For more information call Ian Perkins on 07771-843 972 or the personnel section at the fire service HQ on 01609-788631.
