Malcolm Rickaby, locally based excavator driver, who joined the Fell & Moorland Working Terrier Club 18 months ago, became the national 'Area Rep. of the Year' at this year's AGM.

He received this award for raising £1200 for the Club and, in May, rescuing two terrier dogs from a 50ft rockface at Appleby, where they had been trapped for six days.

The FMWTC was started in 1966 to provide a much needed organised rescue service for terriers lost to ground in the course of their natural working activites.

It costs £10 a year to join the FMWTC. The meeting for this area is held at The Foxhall Inn, Ravensworth on the second Thursday of the month at 8pm. There are also two dog shows each year in April & July.
