Drivers warned of roadworks

MOTORISTS are being warned about possible congestion and traffic disruptions owing to roadworks on the A66 at Eston Road and the A1085 in South Bank, at the new Tesco Eco store.

Work on both roads is set to take place at the same time between the end of this month and March.

Councillor Helen McLuckie, cabinet member for highways, transportation and planning, said: "We hope drivers in and around the local area can bear with us while these essential improvement works take place.

"There will be plenty of signage in place on the roads concerned and those surrounding, but we are advising drivers to use the A174 where possible, especially if travelling north, where they can easily link up with the A19."
