WORK is under way on a new-look town centre.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is spending £35,000 on new seating and tree planting in the Market Place and Westgate areas of Guisborough.
The move comes after a consultation process involving the Guisborough Town Partnership, Guisborough in Bloom and Guisborough Pride groups.
Councillor Mark Hannon, cabinet member for economic development, culture, leisure and tourism, said: "This work has followed on from an earlier shop front improvements scheme and offers yet another boost to Guisborough.
"We hope residents will appreciate the improvements and that tourists will also be encouraged to spend longer there."
Information boards are being erected in the Market Place, Fountain Street car park, by Westgate Park and at the Forest and Walkway Centre to provide information for residents and visitors about the town trail and the town to forest loop.
