THIEVES believed to be looking for scrap metal broke into the mothballed Corus plant at the weekend.

Police were called to a report of a burglary at Corus’ Teesside Cast Products site at about 4.15am on Saturday.

Officers then searched a property in Eglington Avenue, Grangetown, East Cleveland, and discovered an air rifle.

They arrested two men aged 21 and a youth aged 16 on suspicion of burglary and possession of a firearm.

They later arrested a 20- year-old woman on suspicion of possessing a firearm.
