A COLLEGE is preparing to celebrate York Pride by taking its wildlife park to the festival.

Staff and students from Askham Bryan College are getting ready to join Saturday's York Pride event which will bring together thousands of LGBT supporters from across the region.

Representatives from across the college, led by chief executive Catherine Dixon said: "I am delighted both personally and professionally to show our support for such an important event."

At the college's stand on the Knavesmire, visitors will be able to see giant African land snails. These snails are hermaphrodites, simultaneously both male and female. They will swap their usual home in the Askham Bryan Wildlife Park for the festival. And, against the backdrop of a floral arch, students will be busy making colourful fresh flower bracelets to give away from the stand.
