A HOSPICE is gearing up for its tenth midnight walk and this year’s has a royal twist.

St Leonard’s Hospice is hosting the seven-mile walk on June 9 which takes a circular route from York College.

This year the walk has a royal theme and the hospice’s events fundraiser Katie Jackson said: “The event is open to all – men, women and children.

“We hope lots of people will get into the spirit of the event, dressed as royalty or in red, white and blue. Hospice t-shirts in those colours will be available to buy on the night along with lots of other merchandise.

“Come along and wave your Union Jack flags with us as we claim the streets of York once again in the name of St Leonard’s.”

There are already more than 600 walkers signed up and the hospice is encouraging more people to join in the fun.

Pre-walk entertainment will come in the form of a "clubbercise" warm up with Thomas of Clubbercise York and hula hooping with Jenny Parry of High Hoops.

Tickets are available at £17 for adults and £12 for children via the hospice website stleonardshospice.org.uk
