A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a crash near Cawood, south of York.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at around 5pm on Tuesday, May 29.

A Suzuki motorbike and a silver Mercedes CLS crashed on the B1222 Bishopdyke Road.

An ambulance also attended but, sadly, a man in his 30s from the Goole area was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two occupants of the car were uninjured.

The road was closed for several hours to allow police to carry out enquiries, and officers are not yet in a position to confirm the man’s identity.
