DOZENS of civilians from across the north tested themselves top the limit in a new military leadership challenge set by Army reserves.

For the first time the reserve soldiers from the Queen’s Own Yeomanry offered a one-day leadership challenge at Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Strensall, York, compared to their annual three-day course called Exercise Executive stretch.

This year it was decided to hold a series of one-day events run by a differing military units on a more bespoke level which run throughout the year.

The first attracted visitors from a wifde variety of companies across the North of England, including those such as Network Rail, Portakabin and South Yorkshire Police

The aim was to develop leadership skills, improve self-confidence and communication skills and test people’s ability to work in a team.

Captain Tim Miller said: “It proved a very challenging day for the visitors but one which they thoroughly enjoyed.

"The new format of conducting the various stands including medical and police sets over the one day seemed to attract more people from businesses as it was easier to fit in their diaries.”
