A MAN has been stabbed in York city centre.
North Yorkshire Police said they were called just before midnight on Wednesday evening with a report that a man had been stabbed on Walmgate.
The man, who in his 30s, suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries, for which he received treatment at York Hospital, the force added.
Police have cordoned off a stretch of pavement on Walmgate while forensic inquiries continue.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "We know this will be a concerning incident for residents. Officers will be conducting patrols in the area today to provide reassurance to the local community.”
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to phone North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference number NYP-18042018-0573.
