MASKED burglars clad in boiler suits tried to raid a jewellers - by breaking into a neighbouring charity shop and making a hole in the wall.
Two men tried to break into Fraser Hart jewellers in Coney Street on the evening of April 1, through the roof of the Cancer Research shop next door.
The attempted break-in happened at about 8.25pm when the men got into the charity shop, then made a hole in the wall between the first and second floor to access the jewellery shop. However, they fled when the alarm triggered.
Investigator David Pegg said: “These two men paid no regard to the damage they caused to two buildings and the distress they have caused staff of both stores. They were only concerned with their own selfish gain."
