FIREFIGHTERS were called to a smell of smoke in a property only to discover a dozen hot cross buns had been left unattended in an oven - leaving them hotter than intended.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the incident happened at Great Ouseburn, near Boroughbridge, on Tuesday evening.
Another crew was mobilised to a smell of smoke and a strange noise from an electric fan in a property in Whitby early yesterday.
However on arrival they discovered it was a false alarm - caused by the noise of an electric toothbrush.
