PEOPLE using one of the country's busiest railway stations are being encourage to head north.

For the next six months the ticket gateways at King's Cross in London will be promoting the joys of Yorkshire.

For the first three months the branding will promote the Tour de Yorkshire – the popular cycle race running from May 3 to 6.

Then the gateways will be covered in Welcome to Yorkshire branding to reach thousands of commuters, tourists and locals who pass through every day.

Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive Sir Gary Verity said: “It’s fantastic this branding will be seen by millions of people who pass through King’s Cross every year and drive them up to our glorious county."

He added: “The Tour de Yorkshire is a flagship event showing off all corners of our county and it’s great even more people will be encouraged to visit and experience the event this year.”

The branding has been placed by Welcome to Yorkshire in partnership with Carat.
