SINGER Paloma Faith is set to bring her latest tour to the region this spring and summer.

She will be the first headline act for the summer Music Saturday at York Racecourse on June 30 this year, as the musician embarks on a 20-date UK tour.

Paloma is also due to play Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena on Friday, March 9 and will then return to the region to headline the Mouth of the Tyne Festival at Tynemouth on Thursday, July 5, which is organised by North Tyneside Council, at Tynemouth Priory and Castle.

Her appearance in York will be the first of three music and racing events in York in 2018.

The Brit Award-winning singer songwriter said: "I'm really looking forward to playing York Racecourse next summer, it'll be one of the first chances I'll get to play tracks from The Architect in the sunshine.

"I love a day out at the races too so can't wait for it."

Paloma Faith returned to the charts last year with The Architect, a UK number one album.

It's her fourth record and sold more than 40,000 copies within days.

It followed her successful 2014 album, A Perfect Contradiction, which spent 29 weeks in the Top 10 Albums Chart, 66 weeks in the Top 40, and 100 weeks in the Top 200.

Her 2018 tour will be the first since giving birth to her first baby in December, following an emergency caesarean.

The racecourse's James Brennan said: "Everyone at the course is really excited that Paloma has chosen York to tour her new album.

"Add in the spectacle of the racing itself and we hope it will prove a summer day to savour.”
