A £500 reward is being offered after a family's festive holiday was ruined by thieves.

The family, from London, were stopping off in York on their way to celebrate the New Year in Scotland and had parked on Nunthorpe Road overnight on Boxing Day.

But the dark-red Ford Focus estate was broken and a large amount of personal property was stolen.

The items removed included four identical family suitcases filled with adult and child clothing, large blue ‘IKEA’ style carrier bags containing food, and four ‘Crewsaver’ boating life-jackets – two yellow children’s and two adult buoyancy aids, one light blue and the other dark blue.

The children’s Christmas presents were also stolen.

The family is particularly keen to recover a unique set of keys to their holiday destination.

They are offering a £500 reward for information about the incident to be passed to the police as soon as possible, including the recovery of the keys.
