A CHARITY which patrols a river at high risk times is looking for a new home.

York Rescue Boat is a charity set up in 2014 which patrols the River Ouse, responds to incidents on the water and helps police and the fire service in rescues.

But the charity is in urgent need of a home for its three boats and three vehicles.

A spokesperson for the group said: “With three boats and three vehicles we desperately need somewhere to call home. For obvious reasons we need 24-hour access, with somewhere to keep boats and vehicles inside. A light industrial unit, warehouse or workshop would be ideal.

“If you have a spare building in or around York we could use for free, or a small sum, we’d be delighted and grateful to hear from you.

“We have amazing, hardworking volunteers with all sorts of skills and trades so could improve a premise in return for the use of it.”

York Rescue Boat now has 55 volunteers, including fundraisers and operational members, and costs about £20,000 a year to run.

The charity also provides a national flood rescue team.

Anyone who has a spare building that the charity can use free of charge or for a small sum should email info@yorkrescueboat.com or visit York Rescue Boat on Facebook.
