A DRIVER who died in a crash may have fallen ill at the wheel.
North Yorkshire Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident, which happened on the A1079 Hull Road in York at about 8pm on Monday.
A local man, aged in his early 50s, was heading east in a black Vauxhall Insignia when it mounted the nearside kerb and collided with a parked silver Toyota Corolla.
He was taken by ambulance to York District Hospital where he died.
From initial police enquiries, there is a suggestion that the man may have suffered a medical episode while driving.
The collision scene remained closed until 12.45am this morning (21 November 2017) while police investigated and to allow the vehicles to be recovered safely.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward, as well as anyone who recalls seeing a black Vauxhall Insignia as it drove on Hull Road at around 8pm on Monday.
