A UNIQUE sculpture has been unveiled at St Leonard’s Hospice in York, giving families a way of remembering their loved ones.
The “Memory Tree” sits close to the hospice’s reception, and was unveiled on Monday, St Leonard’s Day, and dedicated by the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu.
The tree can hold up to 350 leaves, and families can dedicate a leaf as a memorial while supporting the hospice.
Dr Sentamu said: “It is my hope that this Memory Tree will be a Tree of Life and its leaves will bring great healing.
" I commend the creativity involved and it is a beautiful way of contributing to the work of the hospice.
"I pray for the comfort that this will bring for many families who grieve for loved ones.”
Hospice fundraiser Annie Keogh said the tree would be a way to remember a loved one, and thanked all the sponsors who have helped make the idea possible.
