A NORTH Yorkshire teacher is looking for a new career after her daughter told police she was drink-driving.

Kellie Joyce Ensbury, 37, told York Magistrates Court she drove about 200 yards from her house before she realised she was breaking the law and curtailed her journey.

"My daughter was concerned for my safety, so she called police," she said.

Simon Ostler, prosecuting, said by the time police arrived, the car was back on the family drive. A breath test showed she was one and a half times the drink-drive limit.

Ensbury, of Brailsford Crescent, Clifton, pleaded guilty to drink-driving and was banned from driving for 16 months. She was also ordered to pay a £120 fine, a £30 statutory surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.

She said she would not be able to continue her work as a supply teacher to schools in North Yorkshire because of a lack of public transport and that she was looking for a different kind of work.

Mr Ostler said Ensbury told police she had been out drinking on September 30 and caught the bus to York, where she had more to drink, before returning home by taxi.

There she had an argument with her daughter and decided to drive away to calm down.

But as she drove along Brailsford Crescent, she realised she was committing an offence and drove back.
